Bernice Washington is a respected community leader and lifelong advocate for education, service, and faith. She has dedicated her life to uplifting others through mentorship, leadership, and volunteer efforts across Orange County and beyond.
For more than 20 years, Bernice has worked at the Orange County Department of Social Services, where she recruits foster parents to serve as nurturing foster families, helps parents find employment, and supports programs that enhance the quality of life for Orange County’s older residents.
She also assists with the PCA and CNA programs, providing opportunities for individuals to develop caregiving skills and pursue meaningful careers. In addition, she plays a key role in the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holiday Assistance Program, offering hope and support to families during the holiday season.
A proud graduate of Orange County High School, Bernice continued her studies with a focus on public service and community development. She is an active member of the Orange County Chamber of Commerce and a devoted member of the historic Blue Run Baptist Church, where she continues to serve faithfully in various ministries.
Bernice’s influence extends across civic and faith-based organizations, where she has held numerous leadership roles that foster unity and inclusion. Her ability to inspire collaboration and her unwavering compassion have made her a trusted voice in the community. Guided by her faith, she remains committed to empowering others—especially women and youth—to lead with integrity, purpose, and love.
In recognition of her decades of community involvement, Bernice has received multiple awards honoring her service and dedication to positive change. She continues to be a beacon of faith, hope, and perseverance for all who know her.
